The Rolling Pin Post is the title of the Cottage Bakery's monthly newsletter. I had been fixing up some menu items and print material for the Cottage Bakery, and while making a brochure that was advertising the newsletter, I found that having a logo would create a more impactful graphic and encourage both new and existing customers to join the newsletter.

Logo Characteristics

The logo leans towards a western feel, inspired by patching you'd iron onto your favorite jean jacket. Utilizing the bold orange and teal color palette on the dark brown background allows the logomark to pop, especially on a screen in the RGB colorspace.

Initial Sketches

Once again I started sketching all the ideas I had bouncing around in my head. My sketches aren't pretty, but they get my thoughts onto paper where I won't forget them. This allows me to experiment with what works, what doesn't, and what to proceed with in Illustrator.

Logo Progression

After sketching and moving to Illustrator, I tend to go through various versions of the same item. This allows me to find out what works, what doesn't, and refer back to different elements I enjoyed and different elements I disliked. Originally very rectangular, the patch-style logo underwent a few transformations to get to the final result and color palette.
